Slippers Shoes

This is the kind of trend that I don’t understand at the beginning, I remember the last time I felt like this was when the Uggs came out. My first reaction is just to say that it’s a very strange idea and that it  doesn’t look nice. BUT I still wanted to try because you never know. So I went to Macy’s and fitted a pair of slippers by Marc Jacobs, these ones Shorty Loafer:

First of all, they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever tried, they are so soft and light, I could barely feel them! And I like the design as well, they’re very cute.

So before deciding if I want to buy this pair of Slippers or another, I’m checking other brands but this one is definitely my favourite so far, but it’s more a matter of comfort than beauty.

I’ll update soon!

Saddle Shoes

Good ol’ timey… I love these shoes, they used to be very popular in the 1950′s. They can give you a “school girl” style, be an extra accessory in a vintage outfit or just spice up a casual look. They are very comfortable and can come in a lot of different colours.

Here some of the pairs you can order from Bass

The link to their website is: https://bassshoes.harborghb.com/catalog/product-listing.cfm/collection/Bucs-And-Saddles/group/basswomens

Asos has some saddle shoes as well: http://us.asos.com/search/saddle-shoes?hrd=1&q=saddle+shoes

You can also find it at Daddy O’s (see the Daddy O’s article)

If you want it cheap, Payless has a pair for $20 and they’re pretty nice:

Daddy O’s Rockabilly Shoes

I recently discovered this website daddyos.com. I’m a huge fan of vintage clothing and shoes, and their selection is really cool. It’s all inspired by the 1950′s fashion, rockabilly, swing, very “American Graffiti”. They also have some pin up style shoes and dresses if you are more of a Marilyn Monroe fan. They are based in Indiana and they ship everywhere in the US.

Just a few examples of what they have:

They even have saddle shoes!

I’m planning to order a bunch of stuff, I’ll let you know how that goes. I hope I won’t be disappointed. If you know other stores like this one, please let me know!

Louboutin, Marc Jacobs, Jimmy Choo….

I decided to write my letter to Santa Claus today, I know it’s a little late but I’ve been pretty busy lately. Besides if he goes to Broadway in Manhattan, he should be able to get everything pretty quickly.

Dear Santa, this year I want a lot of shoes, here is my list, remember the higher on the list, the more important:

1. My dream shoes are Fifi Spikes by Christian Louboutin, they’re gorgeous and I just bought a dress that would look amazing with theses shoes

2. The second pair of shoes on the list is Kiki by Jimmy Choo, they are the perfect shoes for an evening dress

3. Next are Gisele low boots by Dolce and Gabbana, I saw these shoes in Vogue and it was love at first sight, I think that I can wear them with pretty much anything

4. These red pumps by Prada, it’s been a long time since I’ve bought a pair of Prada shoes. These shoes can easily illuminate a dark outfit.

5. Usually I’m not a big fan of Marc Jacobs but wearing these high healed rain boots would be a good way of staying in a good mood when the weather sucks 6 and 7. Alexander McQueen makes the craziest shoe designs, here are my two favourite McQueen pairs of shoes at the moment

Cowboy Shoes

I’ve been to the paradise of cowboy boots in Nashville, Tennessee. There were thousands of them, different style and colours, snake skin, alligator, lizard, shiny, colourful, classic… A lot of them looked too ridiculous to be worn and the price (averagely 400$) prevents you from buying it “just for fun”. It was written “buy one get one for free” everywhere in the store but still 200$ for a pair of tacky honky tonky cowboy boots is way too expensive and once you realize that you will really never wear it, it will be hard to find among your friends or family someone to offer them to as a present,

Cowboy shoes were originally used as riding boots, they were handmade and considered as part of equestrian life. Today you can find them everywhere in the world, they became fashionable, all women shoe stores sell them. However, in the south of the United States, cowboys or men who just dress as cowboys keep wearing these shoes. That’s why this kind of specialised store makes so many different types of cowboy shoes, I don’t think that these stores would survive anywhere else. The image of the cowboy with his cowboy shoes and his cowboy hat and his lasso as part of the American culture is so spread that if for some reason you decide to buy a pair of these shoes, the temptation will be high to also take a hat, find a horse and YEE-HA!
